The Mac-Latch is a mechanical latching device which replaces continuous hydraulic pressure when maintaining control of an ‘ESD’ Emergency Shut Down valve supported with low electric power (12 or 24 volts). The Mac-Latch Gate Valve Actuatoris designed to support both subsea and surface ‘ESD’ control systems and is designed as a small compact unit to assist the valve in cutting 5/16” braided cable if required.
The Mac-Latch Retro-Fitis designed to be installed (retro-fitted) onto most existing gate valve actuators. In some cases without removing the existing actuator from the tree or pipe line valve.
Mac-Controls offer function and control with cost effective low energy operational and long term maintenance costs. Interfacing with simple electrics or electronic communication systems i.e. pilots, solar panels and SCADA etc.
In addition the Mac-Latch technology is being considered to support other existing and new design products i.e. Ball Valve, Down Hole Safety Valve etc.
The Mac-Latch offers commercial, safety and environmental benefits. Long term hydraulic (pressure maintained) devices are known to be inefficient with age. This relates to increasing costs with maintenance and environmental issues due to leakage at fittings and seals which fatigue under continuous pressure. Other savings relate to energy and operational costs.
The Mac-Latch provides a quicker closing time for ‘ESD’ valves in the event of an emergency shut down with existing and new platform facilities.
