Geothermal Leak Sealing & Isolation Chemicals

Proven Technology, Engineered For A New Frontier

KCI has spent the last 23 years designing time-activated leak sealants and downhole isolation solutions for some of the most demanding well environments on earth. Now, we're bringing that same methodology to geothermal projects across Europe.

We’re clear on the scale of the challenge here: aggressive brines, thermal stress and dissolved CO₂ create a chemical environment  that’s incompatible with conventional leak sealants, but we’ve never been conventional.

Our engineers have always maintained that chemical and mechanical integrity solutions should be engineered to the problem, instead of taken off a shelf. We have the hard-won experience - and the start-up mindset - needed to take pre-existing leak sealants and adapt their chemistry for the specifics of your geothermal project.

Save Time and Money

KCI’s family of advanced leak sealants are designed to solve a wide range of well integrity challenges, from to 100% leak-free abandonment in accordance with the latest industry and environmental regulations.

Fully compliant by design, our products have been deployed on projects across the globe, delivering a leak tight seal on…

  • Well control lines

  • Surface valves and actuators

  • Tree and wellhead components

  • Hydraulic control systems

  • Manifold and flow control assemblies

KCI’s durable, adaptable sealants can be deployed directly into operational systems to temporarily restore sealing integrity and enable critical functions during remediation or abandonment work.

By restoring functionality within compromised systems, KCI solutions help operators avoid costly mechanical replacements and minimise downtime during remediation campaigns.

Our products can be tailored for compatibility with a wide range of control fluids and stored for up to a year - making them ideal contingency tools for high-risk operations.

A Family Of Field-Proven Sealants

Our catalogue has been developed through 23 years of close collaboration with operators facing urgent, complex integrity challenges. Every (highly adaptable) product in our range was built because a client needed a solution that didn't yet exist.

Time-Activated Chemistry

Our sealants are engineered to activate at a pre-determined time after deployment, allowing safe placement in live systems before sealing occurs. Activation timing is designed to real-world conditions and ensures product sets in the right place - without clogging or obstructing lines.

24 - 48hr Mobilisation

Compared to traditional service providers, our response times are exceptional. We are structured to deploy product and on-site technical support rapidly, leveraging a network of proven partners, or putting our own team on the ground to provide expert support in demanding situations.

Packer & Deep-Set Isolation

IG-H and IG-L are specifically engineered for deep-set packer and casing shoe sealing , restoring pressure-retaining barriers without workover. These products have been proven time and time again, and we are actively refining them for geothermal applications

A Well-Honed Process

Whether we’re deploying to an oil field in Kuwait or a Dutch geothermal project, our team operates like a well-oiled machine. For geothermal projects in particular, we follow a very set process:

Step 1: Understand the Completion Architecture

Before any product is specified, KCI engineers analyse your current setup in detail. We’ll work to understand everything from wellbore geometry through to the specifics of all downhole equipment so we can develop a bespoke solution that solves your problem without interfering with any other element of production.

Step 2: Characterise the Brine Chemistry

Geothermal brines present chloride concentrations, temperatures, dissolved CO₂ levels and heavy metal content far removed from standard completion fluids. Our formulation process begins with brine characterisation to ensure sealant compatibility before any downhole deployment is considered.

Step 3: Adapt Chemicals for the Operating Environment

Our IG-H technology is a time-activated, two-component sealant developed for deep-set packer and casing shoe isolations in oil and gas operations. Formulation adaptation for geothermal brines is the next step in our current validation programme.

Step 4: Validate, Deploy, Monitor

Once brine compatibility and seal geometry are confirmed, we develop a tailored deployment procedure. Our team can mobilise rapidly, with on-site technical support available within 24–48 hours for urgent integrity challenges, and we take great care to monitor and adapt treatment regimes in real-time.
